Cairns Life: an Australia Life Adventure

Hello Blog Readers, and Blog Ignorers, hope you are doing lovely and succeeding in all your life goals.

I am doing pretty okay in Cairns! I have just a few life updates for you then I'm going to leave you with a link for my game ahaha >:)


SO! First important thing I should probably say is that I got another job!! Yay money!!

It's just more waiter work at a place called Hopscotch, a neat little Italian restaurant about 20 minutes away by bus, or 10 by bike (IF I HAD ONE). ALl my coworkers are all super nice though, we all get along really well and I even got a FREE PIZZA on one of my first shifts because they had to call me in later that day, what absolute kings that own the place. Unfortunately, I'm not getting as many hours as I like (only 12 for my 1st proper week like actually wth), but it's spread over 4 days so my 88 days WILL still count as long as I get paid.


I'm also really hoping to get a job at a video production company called RapidSpin who do wedding photogaphy/videography, analog to digital video transfers, etc. just as a casual. Not only would it be good money, but it would also let me use the skills I went to school for in a meaningful way (making money JK capturing memories). I'm going to roll in there with a resume tomorrow and see whats up, but who's to say, I know Cairns isn't really an open job market right now, so we'll see.

Speaking of Cairns not being an open job market, oh my god is it ever hard to find a job here! There are SO many backpackers here, and everyone has the exact same idea: work in hospitality, and everyone has that exact skillset so everything is just MEGA oversaturated right now. Even farm jobs are not the easiest to find right now unless you have a car and can drive 3 hours out into the middle of nowhere. Wish that could be me to be honest, but not this time, maybe next :)




OTHER LIFE UPDATES: Currently the hostel I'm staying in is super cool! Everyone is mega chill, and if I pay for long-term rates, I could get a super discount to stay here, which I'm really on the fence about. On one hand, yeah having my own bed/space is nice, but on the other, it's honestly kind of nice to live in this more social environment? I'm really bad for sabotaging social relationships, where if I don't see people in person like every day, I forget they exist and will almost never contact them, so being in a space where we're just talking and doing stuff all the time is really really nice for me.

I'm also really on the fence about it because of the Boys Back Home. I really do love playing games with them, and I want to continue to do so, but at the same time, I don't know if I'm going to get an opportunity to live this way again for a while. I love my friends DEARLY, but I also really want to experience new and cool stuff here in Cairns and in Australia, and trying to balance my relationships here and my relationships back home is super annoying. Like, do I get a private room somewhere and enjoy a more tranquil but lonely lifestyle with the boys back home, or do I stay longer in the hostel and try to make new friends and stuff here?? IDK what I'm gonna choose yet, but honestly I think I'm leaning more towards hostel life for the time being. I might change my mind down the line, but for now I think I'm going for the Hostel Route.

And finally, my game is done. I have no more to add to it, except MAYBE some bug fixes. There's a link to the PC and Android versions below, and I'm working on getting it uploaded to the Google Play store


Sorry Apple people, idk why but Apple charges 99 dollars a year to upload games to the IOS store, so I am NOT doing that. On the DL though, here's a mirror you can download and manually run on your IOS device I think? IDK I can't test it since I don't have an iPhone.
